Featuring eight spectacular prayerbooks, this exhibition highlights female patronage in the Middle Ages and the early Renaissance. Most of these manuscripts represent a specific type of prayerbook, a “book of hours,” so popular at the time they are often called the “bestseller” of their time. Each of these manuscripts is associated with female ownership, some of which contain portraits of the women who commissioned these books hundred of years ago, giving us insights into their everyday lives. Discover this group of works at this year’s Park Avenue Armory, on our booth A6.
