The Ideal Past: Revival Jewels
This book brings together a curated group of sixteen jewels by the most significant revival jewelers of the nineteenth century: Castellani, Wièse, Falize, Giuliano, and Froment-Meurice. It is said that what differentiates the art of this era is that there is “no style which can properly be called its own.” We focus on how each jewel presents a unique view of an “ideal” past with a spirit of innovation that is itself a distinguishing characteristic of the era.
